Defensive prowess remains the focal point. Can he single-handedly uphold the defensive structure? Or at the very least, emerge as the linchpin, enabling Lakers' perimeter defenders to freely disrupt opponents? Should the outside players falter in their gamble-style defense, botch the switching, or fail to navigate around screens, will he be able to rectify these errors? Can he safeguard the rim and assist the Lakers in overcoming their plight of being ranked second from the bottom in the league for opponents' field goal percentage in the paint? I believe he can, and the Lakers have placed a significant bet on this aspect.
